In Season 2 Episode 8 Howard is smitten by Dr. Stephanie Barnett and is convinced that she is his true soul-mate. However, the later is in turn smitten when she meets Leonard. When Howard invites Stephanie to drive the Mars Rover, it ends up getting stuck in a ditch. To cover his tracks, Howard then destroys all evidence related to the Mars Rover mission. Meanwhile, Leonard starts having guilt pangs for not telling Howard, about Stephanie dating him. When Sheldon refuses to help, Leonard decides to go to Howard’s house to tell the truth, where Stephanie calls up Howard and tells him everything. Howard gets mad at Leonard until Stephanie invites him for a double-date. As the episode ends, Howard hears the news of Mars Rover having found life on Mars in a ditch. However, he is disappointed to hear that due to the data loss, no one can be accredited with the amazing discovery.
