In Season 2 Episode15 Penny runs into Leonard’s psychiatrist and neuroscientist mother Dr. Beverly Hofstadter while doing laundry and Dr. Beverly answers Penny’s questions about Leonard’s childhood. Penny tells Dr. Beverly about herself as well and soon Penny is crying as a result of her psychoanalysis. Meanwhile, Sheldon shares a good relationship with Dr. Beverly, and discusses ‘intimate’ relationship points with her. Later, Howard also teases Leonard by asking Dr. Beverley about her other two more successful children. To get back at Howard, Leonard tells his mother about him living with his mother as well as about Rajesh’s inability to speak in front of women. Later, as Penny and Leonard seek comfort and discuss Leonard’s mother, they end up sleeping with each other after having white wine followed by tequila. But as Leonard gives Penny the very weird psychological reasoning of his mother for their having sex, she throws him out of the apartment
